The IT Operations Associate is responsible for ensuring a stable operating environment and attaining maximum reliability of the technology infrastructure. Troubleshoots and restores service and responds to any business requests for service. Provides technical support during disaster recovery procedures and coordinates regular disaster recovery testing and update of recoverability procedures.
The associate is also responsible for activities related to the ongoing maintenance, small scale build-out and capacity management of the infrastructure including physical infrastructure maintenance and maintenance contract administration. Ensures standardization of the infrastructure. Assist with incremental process improvement.
Key responsibilities are;
Technical - 80%
• Ensures stable performance of the infrastructure environment; identifies and resolves or properly escalates issues.
• Manages to current Service Level Agreements as required.
• Monitors and responds to Help Desk and user requests via the ticketing system.
• Monitors and responds to hardware and firmware failures. Maintains maximum uptime for production systems.
• Troubleshoots, remediates and / or escalates system issues appropriately to the appropriate Core Tech team.
• Monitors, troubleshoots, administers & reports status on all infrastructure capacity utilization metrics.
• Communicates critical information to management, other IT staff and users as appropriate.
• Adheres to hardware, operating system, and firmware standards.
• Works with other infrastructure teams to ensure effective infrastructure security, integrity and recoverability procedures are in place at all times. Regularly participates in testing the disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitors and reports on infrastructure capacity utilization and performance metrics.
• Participates in small scale projects for maintaining infrastructure reliability.
Administrative - 20%
• Shares acquired knowledge with other associates to maintain and foster teamwork among staff.
• Documents Knowledge Base documentation for activities and steps related to incident resolution, request completion
• Documents all changes per IT change management procedures.
• Ensures all requests and incidents are recorded and documented in the ticketing system.
• Follows all documented processes & procedures per IT departmental standards. Assists with incremental process improvement and adoption within the team.
• 2-3 years of SAN / NAS (EMC Clariion / EMC DMX / Navisphere / Centera / Net App / SnapMirror / SnapVault) and related support experience in a production-quality environment.
• Work experience at large, standards driven IT organizations is highly desired. Financial services industry experience is valued.
• Preference for working within a structured, stable environment. Demonstrated ability to be successful in a metrics based performance culture.
• Knowledge of leading practices such as ITIL, CoBIT, CMMI. Certification is highly desirable.
• Commitment to excellence in customer service and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively and independently in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.
• Must be able to work outside normal business hours in order to perform diagnosis and/or implementation of product releases or changes, so that normal workflow is not interrupted.
• Ability to achieve goals with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
• BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline; or equivalent work experience.
• Storage certification is required.
• Rotated on-call coverage is required, including weekends.
